In June 2019, we explored a bit of Ireland for two weeks. My childhood penpal joined us for part of our journey. We visited Dublin, Trim, Kilronan Castle, Cliffs of Moher, Dingle, Killnarney and Kilkenney.

Our time in Ireland, began in Dublin. We enjoyed a tour with Sandeman’s Free Walking tour with Cieran as our guide. We explored St. Patrick’s Cathedral, toured Christ Church Cathedral. Enjoyed visiting the Museum of Archeology, Chester Beauty library and wandering Grafton Street. We had tours of the Jamieson Distillery, Guinness Storehouse, Trinity College, Dublin […]

Trim Castle – the one of largest castles in Ireland, located in County Meath.

Kilronan Castle

A luxurious castle hotel in Roscommon Ireland. Our home for a night, which included a lovely dinner and a wander through the estate where we discovered an abandoned stable.

Kilmacdaugh Monastery

A random stop on a rainy day at a ruined abbey near the town of Gort in County Galway.

Cliffs of Moher

The sea cliffs are located at the southwestern edge of the Burren Region in County Clare. They run for about 14 kilometers.

Enroute to Dingle

Lunch in Alore at The Blue Door, scenic views and an overnight at Lahinch

Slea Head drive along the Dingle Peninsula

One of Ireland’s most scenic routes along part of the Wild Altantic Way. We travelled clockwise in order not to meet any tour buses on this very narrow single lane road. Along the way, we saw beehive huts, Coumeenoole Beach, Gallarus Oratory and Kilmalkedar Monastery.

Dingle Darkroom photo tour

One evening, we went on a guided photography tour with George, from Dingle Darkroom. This gave us the opportunity to see the area with the expertise of a local.

Killarney National Park

While in Killarney we toured the Ross Castle, which was completely restore to its original state using construction methods of the time. We wandered through the Muckross Abbey and hiked to the Torc Falls.
